BITTERROOT CLASSIC TRIATHLON
RACE INFORMATION

SWIM/HEAT ASSIGNMENTS: 750 Yards (15 laps)
Start and finish at the Bitterroot Aquatic Center. Swim will be set up in heats comprised of 2-4 entrants per lane, the first heat starting at 7:30 am sharp.   Heats will start based on a clock timer, not when everyone in the heat is ready.   So know when your heat is on race day and be there, find your lane counter, and be ready 5-10 minutes before your heat starts.  Heat start times, and lane assignments will be posted on this website the week before the triathlon.

HEAT ASSIGNMENT PROCEDURE:
A) Heats preceding the Elite heats will be arranged according to predicted swim times. Please be as accurate as possible when predicting swim time! Efforts will be made to group participants in heats according to their respective age/team categories.

B) Men’s and Women’s “Elite Heats” --- The last two heats of soloists entries will be comprised of those who qualify and wish to be seated in the Elite Heat. In order to be included in Elite Heat one must check the box on the application and indicate an over-all race time of less than 1 hour 15 minutes for men and 1 hour 30 minutes for women.

BIKE: 20K
  Bike course will be out and back along Tammany Lane toward the Stock Farm Club. Bike course is mostly flat with a short hill. Use EXTREME caution at the Marcus Street/Eastside Hwy crossing.

RUN: 5K
  Run course will be a double loop around the Hamilton School Rosewood left on Marcus left on Frost, left on Fairgrounds and left back onto Rosewood. A flat and fast course. Race numbers must be worn on the front of the runners garment and visible at the finish line.
 
AWARDS: Individual age categories
  Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in each of the following age categories: 18 and under, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, 70+. The top three over-all male and female finishers will receive a special award.

AWARDS: Teams
  Each member of the first place male, female and Co-ed (at least one man and one woman) relay teams will receive awards.

MERCHANDISE DRAWINGS:
  All participants will be eligible for ‘schwag’ donated by local merchants.

REGISTRATION:
 

Will be open until identified that the event is sold out. At this point anyone who registers will be put on a waiting list.

CONFIRMATION & RACE PACKET PICK-UP:
  Race packets (race numbers, race information) can be picked up at the Bitterroot Aquatic Center - Kurtz Lane, Hamilton, MT on Friday, August 21 between 4pm-7pm. Or at the Bitterroot Aquatic Center on race day starting at 6am. Tri-athletes wishing to know their heat assignments and starting times, can check www.bitterrootclassictriathlon.com a few days before the race or stop by the pool where a list will be posted by Friday August 21. A mandatory racers meeting will be held at 7:30am on race day. This meeting will cover race-day procedures and any other questions regarding the race. Awards/Post Party
  Post race food & beverage, music, awards and prizes will be held at the Aquatic Center.

RULES:
 
  • Support crews will not be allowed on any portion of the event, including the transition area.
  • ANSI or SNELL approved helmets must be worn during the bike.
  • Wet suits are not allowed during the swim
  • No drafting in any way during the bike. Allow two bike lengths between riders. You may enter this space only when passing. If you cannot pass, you must drop back. Drafters will be disqualified.
  • Teams are required to hand touch in the transition area between incoming and outgoing team members.
